Snow Shoveling in Questions
snow shoveling ???????????? im 12 and im going to be snow shoveling for my neighbors in the winter i want to get my flyer's out early cause i know there's kids who charge 30 bucks to shovel snow and they do a crappy job im making the flyer's but i don't know what to put on them ? how much ? 10 $ for drive way and walk-way ? help thanks

bumblebee replied: "10.00 is cheap...A walk way and drive way should be 20.00. Make out the flyers and say "Satisfaction guarenteed, or you your money back.""

Jim W replied: "When I did the snow shoveling $10 was all for the front walk and approach. Sides were another $10. That was in the 1950's I had all of the work I could handle and a regular route. Start at the same rate as the competition, with a note that this is for an average size job. Then adjust for the size of the job. When the storms hit there is lots of work."

Sundae L replied: "get colored paper and print out or write in BIG letters. charge $15.00"

tritran5555 replied: "ask at kinko"

How much should I charge for snow shoveling? My 2 friends and I wanted to start a snow shoveling business but we don't know how much to charge. We don't want to do it by the time we worked. Thanks to anyone that answers! Your opinion is greatly appreciated!

cant tell replied: "depends on the driveway size little ones like 5 dolars big ones up to 20"

What is the best winter jacket for snow shoveling in a storm? Need something that keeps you warm but not too warm as shoveling snow works up a sweat. Also want something that will keep you dry if your shoveling during a major storm

nooneknowsme replied: "Buy ya a leather jacket."

blazergirl1128 replied: "They are a bit expensive but North Face has very warm water proof winter gear."

Allen L replied: "Get a full coverall set-(body suit) they are lined and cheap keeps you flexible get some scotch guard weather proofing spray and spray it down in the garage before cold weather sets in Kmart for both items probably $50.00 Tl Works for me A Clevelander"

Willie D replied: "Ditto what Allen said. Coveralls work best because when you bend over you won't get snow down your butt-crack! I wear LL Bean rubber boots, Carhartt coveralls, and an old wool sweater. If it is really bad I throw on an old Columbia ski jacket I have for extra warmth. If it's snowing that g-damned hard I just wait til the freakin' storm is over. Where the hell are you gonna go in the snow anyway?"

How can you hit your abs with shoveling snow? Michigan was hit hard with snow and I wanted to know how can I work out(specifically the abs) by shoveling the snow.

Sam P replied: "lift the body with your ab instead of the back"

alabadrock replied: "It's impossible to lift with your abs instead of your back, muscles can only pull, they can't push. Just shoveling will work them. Running works them, so obviously the more you use your legs, the more work your abs will be doing. It's hard to target your abs when you're doing something that requires you to lean over."

how much money could i make shoveling snow today? OK there is 6 inches of snow on the ground. Im thinking about going out and shoveling other peoples driveways for them. How much do you think I should charge so I dont accidentally overcharge and rip them off and they never want me back there again?

mtwaites replied: "You could make a lot of money to shovel their driveways. The way that I think that you should charge them, is if they have a short and simple drive way, then ask for 10 dollars or if they have a longer and simple driveway then ask for 15-20 dollars, or if they have one that is very sloped, or one that is really complex then ask for between 20-25 dollars. Be willing to barter with them though!"

Dominican Queen ; ツ replied: "25 $"

Just me replied: "Shoveling is no easy task--- $25 should cover you. Maybe give the elderly a break though, like $15 or $20 depending on the size of the driveway. My son used to do that when he was a younger teen. Yes, do barter!"

Emily replied: "i think you could make like $20-$30 a house. I would have paid someone to shove my walk"

Jeremy replied: "6 inches would probably be 10-15 dollars."

How much Should I charged when shoveling snow? well with this economy i dont want to be getting barely any money from shoveling snow. so my plan is when it snows here im going to go to a bunch of houses around my neighborhood to shovel snow. the problem is that i dont know how much to charged each person...my freind made about 100 and something and i want to make as much as that or more. please tell me how i can make that much from shoveling snow.

stl_luna_7 replied: "Find an old person who needs help. Ask if you can do that for them and see if they pay you. If they don't then you did a nice thing. If they did, they you didn't asked and probably would get the job again."

Jemgreen replied: "what stl_luna says"

How much should I charge for shoveling snow? I haven't really shoveled snow for money before, so I don't know how much to charge. And if I do shovel sidewalks, should I also shovel the driveway too? Or make it a separate price? I live in Northern Jersey and I hope for a lot of snow to fall. Please list prices that I should charge. Thanks for the feedback guys!

99leadpencils replied: "Five bucks? People won't want to pay that much because they know that they can just do themselves or get the guy of the house to do it. However, if the snow is deep, I would chage more. Maybe even ten bucks for a foot of snow. On the other hand, you should charge less if there's less snow to shovel. Maybe just two bucks if there's a thin layer, but then agian will anyone need the service it there's just a dusting of snow. I hope this was helpful. Good luck with your business venture."

smurf 5 replied: "You should charge $15.00 for a 1/2 hour. A lot depends on the amount of snow and if there is ice. Tell the people before hand that should they want the ice cleared, they are talking time and time is money. If the snow is deep....time, and time is money I assume you are talking "shovel" not plow."

jay replied: "you should charge 20 dollars per hour and demand health care benefits and if they refuse go on strike"

lol replied: "depends on the amount of snow. if its only a little, you shouldn't charge people like 20 bucks! maybe just like 5 or 10 woud be reasonable :)"

Rockies VM replied: "I pay the neighborhood guy $5 to do the sidewalk, plus I give him Hot chocolate. It takes him about 20 minutes with maybe 6 inches snow on the ground. thats $15/hr."

How do you say " Snow shoveling service" in French? How do you say " Snow shoveling service" in French?

Bob replied: ""Le service du shoveling de la nieve." XD"

∞ Oxygène ≈ ρяσχιмα Ω replied: "Je vais pelleter la neige. 'Pelletement de neige'"

Ephy يََسُوعُ اِبْن اللّه replied: "service de déblaiement de la neige In the moutains we say "le chasse-neige" (snowplough)"

Seb0689 replied: "Équipe de déneigement"

Raf R replied: "Équipe de déblaiement de la neige Or Équipe de déneigement. But Shovel = La pelle. Snow shoveling = Enlevement de la neige à la pelle."

What is the responsibility of a landlord for snow shoveling or mowing? I am the landlord and was wondering if I am responsible for the up keep of the the lawn or snow removal. There is not public sidewalk. Just the driveway in a one family home.

The Handyguys replied: "It depends on your agreement with the tenant . This should be spelled out in your contract. If its not then I would say you should do it (to be a good guy) and update your contract if you want them to do it."

evil independent replied: "Just get a rental contract that states it is up to the renter to mow the lawn and shovel the snow. That is normal for a single family house."

darchangel_3 replied: "Generally none unless its included in the lease or rental agreement as a term. The best bet is to specify who is responsible for such in the rental agreement (written.. anything else is foolish) either way you go."

chuck k replied: "no. if you clean a little, you have to clean it all and if a res slips and falls , its still on you, false sense of security. so do nothing at all"

Afton replied: "You should always state that in your rental agreement. if you didn't state who was responsible for lawn upkeep/outdoor living space maintenance, whatever way you would spell it out to cover law mowing AND snow removal, then I would ask the tenants if they would mind doing it, or say you will take $30 off rent per month if they do it, or just do it yourself, then make a new contract that covers that area next time you rent it out to someone else. P.S. there are places like for example where you can download ad print legal documents like rental contracts.....that pretty much cover everything, including the things you wouldn't think of on your own."

Iowa_Guy4U replied: "Hi, It's to my understanding as a disabled Section 8 Low-Income HUD renter that you as the landlord are responsible for the upkeep on all driveways, sidewalks, lawns/grounds, etc. If your collecting rent, it's your responsibility.. I hope this helps, Ken"

Can a teenager make much money shoveling snow? My area is supposed to get 4-8 inches of snow, I was wondering if most people would be willing to pay to get their driveway shoveled? If anyone has done this before is it worth it?

Henry The Dog replied: "You sure can, especially if you live in Maine."

bustersmycat replied: "You can. Is it worth it? It is a lot of work, especially that wet heavy crap. So much so that people are willing to pay you to do it for them. If you can find people that will hire you, you'll make money, and you'll be tired. The hard part of it all is identifying who will hire you and getting to enough places fast enough that you can make some decent money (everyone wants their place shovelled first). I made a lot of money shoveling snow as a kid, before I was old enough to get a real job. Mowed lawns and raked leaves too. I was happy to earn the money. But I got a lot of this work from people that my parents knew, generally older folks, and not by just running around asking (although I have done that and discovered it doesn't work all that well). EDIT and, ironically I suppose, I grew up in Maine."

#1 Yankee Fan replied: "im 14 and live in ny, every time it snows me and my friend walk around asking ppl if they want us to do their driveway, sidewalk, walkway, and stoop. 1-3 inches=$10 total, 4-7=$15 total, 8-12=$20, and over a foor about $30 (depends on property size). I usually make around $100 by the end of the day."
